SP Rudy Owens: 6.0 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K
RP Patrick Urckfitz: 0.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K (blown save)
RP Paul Clemens: 1.1 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K (win)
RP Kevin Chapman: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K (save)
Owens' last two starts have been nice; two earned in 12.1 innings with 13 strike outs. Overall he's been really, really mediocre, even considering that he's playing in a fairly good hitters league.
14 hits (six of them being extra-base hits) in the last ten games for Tucker; he's hitting .378 during that run. Strike outs are starting to come down, too, as he's whiffed 11 times in 16 July games.
Poor Wates, all the turmoil in the outfield in Houston, and then Kike Hernandez moves up and takes off. Meanwhile Wates is hitting .361/.477/.472 in his last ten games, and .304/.408/.388 overall in 64 games.
AA Corpus Christi Hooks: 3-2 loss to Frisco (TEX)

SP David Rollins: 5.0 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 K
RP Mike Hauschild: 2.0 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K (blown save, loss)
RP Ruben Alaniz: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 K
Nice bounce-back outing for Rollins, after he allowed seven earned in four innings last Monday. He's remained one of Corpus' best arms; he owns a 3.45 ERA, 2.40 BB/9 and 8.70 K/9 in 60 innings of work this season.
The transition to AA hasn't gone super-smoothly for Hauschild, but he's working to find his way, and has shown flashes here and there. Overall he's been solid; 3.90 ERA, 2.09 BB/9 and 7.66 K/9 in 64.2 innings since being called up from Lancaster.
A+ Lancaster JetHawks: 5-2 win over Modesto (COL)
-> Conrad Gregor: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R
-> Roberto Pena: 2-for-4
-> Danry Vasquez: 1-for-3, 2B, RBI, R
-> Tyler White: 1-for-3, RBI
-> Teoscar Hernandez: 1-for-4, 2 R
-> Chan Moon: 1-for-4
-> Rio Ruiz: 0-for-4, RBI
SP Josh Hader: 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K (win)
RP Evan Grills: 4.0 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 5 H, 0 BB, 4 K (save)
Gregor's homer went to right field, as most of them have (pull side for a lefty); the wind was listed as 28 MPH out to CF, so...who knows? Either way, what a run; he's hitting .367/.449/.678 with 12 homers, 14 doubles and three triples in 47 games since being promoted.
Vasquez is hitting .305/.380/.484 since the second-half started in the CAL league. Three of his four homers have come during July. He has eight walks and a mere two strike outs in his last ten games.
Just another gem spun by Josh Hader. He owns a 2.46 ERA, 3.13 BB/9 and 9.95 K/9 on the season. His ERA is the very best in the league among qualified starting pitchers, and his strike outs are third (he has roughly ten fewer innings than the two guys above him, though). You can make an easy argument that he's been the best pitcher in the entire league for the season. How is he and Derek Fisher looking as your return for Bud Norris, hmm?
A- Quad Cities River Bandits: 2-1 win over Lake County (CLE)
-> J.D. Davis: 2-for-3, BB, R, 2 2B
-> Ronnie Mitchell: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI
-> Chase McDonald: 1-for-2, R, 2 BB
-> Brian Holberton: 1-for-4
-> Marc Wik: 1-for-4, SB
-> Thomas Lindauer: 0-for-2, 2 BB
-> Jake Rodriguez: 0-for-3, RBI
SP Edison Frias: 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K (win)
RP Blaine Sims: 4.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K (save)
Nice little break out game for Davis (we hope, anyway). He has four hits since being promoted, three of which are doubles. He's also walked twice. Just five games since being called up.
Sims has made four appearances since being promoted from Tri-City; he allowed seven earned in one of them, and has allowed just two earned in the other three. While some walks will always be a part of the knuckleball package, he has 10 in 14.2 innings (6.15 BB/9), which will have to improve if he wants to keep advancing. He does have a GB% over 50%, and is missing a decent number of bats too.
McDonald has at least one hit in nine of his last ten games, and he's hitting .378/.452/.676 during that span. Seven of his last 13 games have been multi-hit games.
SS Tri-City ValleyCats: 12-2 win over State College (STL)
-> Derek Fisher: 2-for-3, SB, 2 BB, 2 R
-> Juan Santana: 2-for-4, 2 2B, 5 RBI
-> Jamie Ritchie: 2-for-4, BB, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R
-> Nick Tanielu: 2-for-5, R, 2 RBI
-> Ryan Bottger: 2-for-5, RBI, 2 R
-> Ariel Ovando: 1-for-4, BB, 2B, 2 R
-> Bobby Boyd: 1-for-4, BB, R
-> Mott Hyde: 1-for-4, RBI, R
-> Ricky Gingras: 1-for-4, R
SP Austin Chrismon: 5.0 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K (win)
RP Brandon McNitt: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K
RP Kyle Weiland: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K
The Shark has been nigh-unstoppable since turning pro, failing to collect a hit in just one of his 13 games. Fisher is hitting .362/.483/.468 so far, with nine walks, nine strike outs, three XBH, and seven steals in seven tries.
Ritchie has been even more goofy than that. He's hitting .469/.576/.633 with eight doubles, 11 walks and just four strike outs in 19 games. As a catcher. I mean, small sample size, short season competition...but I'm having a terribly hard time not falling in love. Four-for-four in steal attempts to boot!
Chrismon, an alumnus of Stony Brook (Nick Tropeano's school) had a couple of bad starts in June that saw him cough up nine earned in eight innings. Aside from those two games, he's allowed six earned in 25.2 innings (2.10 ERA). He's walked just four batters all season in 33.2 total innings, for a stellar 1.07 BB/9.
RK Greeneville Astros: 5-0 loss to Danville (ATL)

SP Devonte German: 4.0 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K (loss)
RP Jorge Perez: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 K
RP Agapito Barrios: 4.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K
Bit of a rough one for German, though his overall numbers are still pretty nice, aside from walking too many guys. 3.42 ERA, 4.56 BB/9 and 7.61 K/9 on the season in six games.
Martin's hitting streak has reached 15 games. He has at least one hit in 21 of his last 23 games. Over his last ten games, he's hitting .361/.439/.500 with five doubles, three of them in his last three games. He has 16 walks and just 18 strike outs in 26 games on the season.
