AAA, Oklahoma City was off for the AAA All-Star Game
The PCL lost to the International League 7-3 in the AAA All-Star Game. Max Stassi entered the game in the 7th inning and lined out to the right fielder in his one plate appearance.
AA, Midland RockHounds (OAK) at the Corpus Christi Hooks
This strange 4 game series finally came to an end with a somewhat normal game. Telvin Nash jacked a 3-run homer in the 1st to give the Hooks a lead and they cruised from there. Tony Kemp did not record a hit, but he drew 2 walks and stole a base. I also witnessed him make a great cutoff throw from Aplin to hose a RockHound at 3rd trying to stretch a double into a triple.
Andrew Aplin went through an abysmal stretch after starting off the season nicely. He's slashing .361/.439/.444 over his last 10 games.
Kyle Smith, working on the extreme 3rd base side of the rubber, threw 4 no hit innings before allowing a couple of hits and being pulled in the 6th. I was listening to this game in the first 4 innings and Smith was pitching absolutely fearlessly. Pounding the corners and throwing his curve for a strike. This guy doesn't possess a ton of upside, but man he can wow you with his control and ability to just compete.
Jordan Jankowski came in and finished up the game for Smith with another solid outing.
Corpus Christi wins 5-2. They level their record at 48-48.

A+, Visalia RawHide (ARI) at the Lancaster JetHawks
Danry Vasquez hit 3 homeruns in a loss for the JetHawks. Mark Appel stunk it up again though and couldn't get through the 2nd inning. This is the official "we are worried about Appel" at TCB. At this point, he might as well be sent to EST to try and retool his mechanics, heal his wrist, mentally self-evaluate, etc, whatever. It's obvious the dude is in as bad of a place as you can imagine.
JetHawks lose 11-6. Their record falls to 56-40.

A, Fort Wayne TinCaps (SD) at the Quad Cities RiverBandits
Despite only being out-hit 11-10, the RiverBandits could only muster 2 runs and took the loss. This was an ugly game, but man, this is such a beautiful park.
Great night for a ball game @QCRiverBandits Beautiful ballpark. And they got a Ferris wheel too! pic.twitter.com/ziYNCVEUIG

A Short-Season, Aberdeen IronBirds (BAL) at the Tri-City ValleyCats
The Tri-City AdvancedCollegeBats did damage again today. Bobby Boyd had 3 hits including a 2B. Derek Fisher had 2 hits and a base on balls. His batting average has dropped all the way down to .406. The recently promoted Juan Santana also had a hit and a walk in his debut as a ValleyCat. Santana is 19 years old playing with mostly college draft picks. He'll be exciting to keep an eye on and see how he handles it.
Joe Musgrove went ahead a showed out. He went 5.0 innings allowing 2 earned runs but striking out 9! That's right. Joe was a part of the 10 player trade with Toronto from 2 years ago.
ValleyCats win 5-3. Their record is 21-11.

Rookie, Greeneville Astros at the Bluefield Blue Jays
The G-Stros rally in the top of the 9th came up short and the damage done to starter Jose Montero was too much to overcome. Here's a name to know: Joshua James. He's a 6-3, 200 pound pitcher taken in the magical 34th round of the 2014 draft. He was taken from Western Oklahoma State College. He has thrown 14 innings so far in his young career and has struck out 22 while only allowing 6 hits, 6 walks, and 1 earned run. His stay in the Appy League may be short and sweet.
G-Stros lose 3-5. Their record is now 12-13.
