Preview

The Astros are probably one of the few teams the Rays wish would go after David Price, assuming they are ready to deal him before his final year of control comes into effect. The Astros are bursting at the seams with prospects and the Rays are asking for a king's ransom for the top lefty. Why wouldn't the Rays ask for a king's ransom for David Price? The 2012 AL Cy-Young award winner is second in the American League in innings pitched (99.2), second in strikeouts (111), and eighth in WHIP (1.15). He also has the fourth lowest xFIP in the major at 2.68.

The Rays have lost the last three games Price as started for the Tampa Bay. In those three starts, he has given up six earned runs over 22.1 innings - striking out 27 and walking two. Let that sink in, a 13.5 strikeout-to-walk rate over his last three games.

If anyone Astros is going to have a good game it's Chris Carter, he's 2-for-8 with a double and two walks against Price in his career. Matt Dominguez is 2-for-5 with a double against Price. Dexter Fowler is 2-for-4, while Jose Altuve is 0-for-7.

Standing in Price's way of complete domination is Brad Peacock. Peacock since returning to the rotation, after skipping a start for forearm tightness, has posted a 2.65 ERA over his last 17 innings. Peacock had another strong outing his last go around, holding the Diamondbacks to one run on three hits over six innings on June 10. The lone run came from a Paul Goldschmidt solo home run. This will be the first time any active Rays will face Peacock.

Jose Altuve is still day-to-day after being hit with a pitch Thursday as the tried to bunt.
