Orioles 9, Astros 4: Just not Feldman and the Astros' day

Bob Levey

Feldman and Astros' offense not enough against the Orioles; Houston splits series with Baltimore.

Scott Feldman has been exactly what the Astros looking for when they signed him for three years, $30 millon. He's been a calm force at the top of the roation, keeping the Astros in games and lasting at least six innings in six of his nine start thus far in 2014. But, today was not his day.

Feldman has given up four of his total five home runs this season to his former team - the Orioles. David Lough and Manny Machado each went yard against Feldman today, on the way to scoring nine runs against the Astros starter. Baltimore blew the game open in sixth inning, stringing together four singles and a grand slam by Machado.

After Houston's seven-game winning streak, the Astros have scored five runs in their last two games. Collecting 13 hits, and 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position. George Springer doubled to lead off the forth and was driven by a Chris Carter. Jesus Guzman singled, Robbie Grossman doubles in the seven, and Carlos Corporan drove in Guzman with a single. Matt Domiguez's two-run homer completed the Astros scoring for the day.

Now back to your regular Sunday, the Astros have the day off Monday.
