Astros prospects: Correa, Springer headline Astros on John Sickels' Top 150 list

Bob Levey

Houston is represented well at the top of Sickels' annual list.

Better late than never. We can officially wrap up prospect season with the release of John Sickels' Top 150 list. The prospect guru saw his schedule get bumped back due to lingering concussion symptoms, but that doesn't make his list any less welcome.

Which prospects made the cut?

13. Carlos Correa

15. George Springer

28. Jon Singleton

48. Lance McCullers, Jr.

51. Mark Appel

58. Mike Foltynewicz

90. Vincent Velasquez

102. Delino DeShields, Jr.

105. Rio Ruiz

There were also Michael Feliz on the supplemental list Sickels tagged at the end of his list.

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka led the way on this list, followed by Byron Buxton and Xander Bogaerts. Jose Abreu, another foreign import last winter, clocked in at No. 16. I'm plenty annoyed that Houston could have had four prospects in the top 16, but we can't change the past.

John's lists are always fascinating to put in context of the other ones published and seeing the differences. For instance, John is still really high on Jon. That's likely because he factored in performance this season into his rankings. Also, it's very interesting that LMJ was Houston's top rated pitching prospect, edging out Mark Appel and Mike Foltynewicz.

Anything jump out to you? Are you surprised by any of the rankings? Disappointed anyone got left off? Angry that the no-hustling DDJ made the list, or glad Sickels looked at his whole body of work?
