TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head to head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the communities favorite Astros player. For more details check out the tournament introductory post.
The rules are simple, determine which player you want to advance to the next round and then vote. Vote subjectively, objectively, using your trusty magic eight ball or any other set of criteria. It's totally up to you how you want to vote! Votes for this round will last exactly 24 hours.
In this match-up
3 - Jon Singleton
Once the near-undisputed prospect king of the Astros system, a drug bust led to a shortened and poor year on the field as Singleton's body fell out of shape during the layoff, and his stock has taken a hit. After tearing it up in the Puerto Rican winter league, the first-baseman-of-the-future is looking to prove that he is still just that, and a hot start in AAA could be all that it takes to propel him up to The Show. His upside remains the same; the best bat this team has had since Lance Berkman was dealt. -Ashitaka
14 - Tyler Heineman
Already a solid defender behind the plate, Heineman made progress at the dish last season. While his numbers may seem only good, especially for Lancaster, it's worth nothing that he skipped Class-A ball and went straight to high Class-A. Throw on the fact that he was also making adjustments at the plate, particularly in the power department, and there's reason for optimisim. While 13 home runs may not seem like much, it is a vast improvement over the goose egg he hit at low Class-A ball. It's also worth noting that Oliver thinks he can post a 3.4 WAR at the major league this year, mostly on his outstanding defense.
