Team Everett wins intrasquad scrimmage; pitching machine designated for assignment

Team Everett wins intrasquad game of spring training; pitching machine gives up five home runs including one to Carlos Correa.

The Astros played a intrasquad scrimmage today in Kissimmee, Team Everett vs. Team Ensberg. The setting was Osceola County Stadium. Each team had only one pitcher for the seven inning contest, as a matter of fact it was the same pitcher. Triple Play Premier Pitching Machine, was called up to make a spot start. It has some impressive measurables - five pitches, reaching up to 90 on his fastball with it's three wheel delivery.

Brian McTaggart and Evan Drellich had the call today at the ballpark.

The coaching clearly wanted the machine to work on his curveball, it was the only pitch he threw his entire 14 innings of work.

A rough start, but nothing the pitching machine can't work out of.

That will happen if you leave a pitch out over the plate against Correa, but then the floodgates opened.

Finally the end. Team Everett came out on top. As a result of letting up five home runs, Triple Play Premier Pitching Machine was designated for assignment by the Astros. Quickly. He wasn't claimed by any of the other 29 major league teams. The pitching machine will stay with the Astros and be relegated to the practice fields.

When reached for comment, Coach Ensberg stated that -

Clearly a demoralizing defeat for Ensberg. The only thing missing was Adam Everett have a twitter account to glout.

All kidding aside, you can read Brian MCTaggart's and Evan Drellich's recaps here and here. Evan Drellich will be joining the TCB Astros Baseball Podcast tonight live at 7 PM tonight.
