MLB Scores: Yankees 2, Astros 1

Congrats, Andy. - Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Andy Pettitte went out like a champ, sending Houston to their 14th consecutive loss.

The Astros paid farewell to a great pitcher on Saturday night by letting him dominate them. Andy Pettitte threw a complete game, allowing only one run on five hits.

But in all seriousness, Pettitte was awesome, even against a struggling Houston lineup. It was a great way for one of the great left handers to go out. The only Houston run came on an RBI ground out by Chris Carter in the fourth inning.

That gave the Astros a 1-0 at the time because Paul Clemens pitched well in opposition. Clemens allowed two runs (one earned) in his 5.1 innings. The first run came on the soon-to-be-quite-rich Robinson Cano's RBI single to tie the game at 1-1 in the sixth.

The second run was Clemens run, but it was unearned run when Matt Pagnozzi spiked the ball into the ground and then lost sight of it. Um, what?

Check it out.

I just don't even know anymore. Can't wait for the make fun of the Astros things coming in the next few days!

Anyway, Pettitte finished off his 116 pitch masterpiece by getting J.D. Martinez (he's back?) to ground out.

Houston will try to avoid having a 15-game losing streak heading into next season by winning on the final day of the regular season tomorrow. Erik Bedard will be on the mound.
