Los Angeles of Anaheim at Houston, 1:10 p.m. (CT)
RHP Jerome Williams ( 7-10 / 4.81 ERA / 1.40 WHIP) vs. RHP Paul Clemens (4-4 / 5.91 ERA / 1.49 WHIP)
It's football Sunday in Houston, Texas, right? Wrong, it's been baseball's day since March. There is no reason to change it now. So let's get right into it..
Paul 'Pinky' Clemens takes the mound for his third start this season. Clemens has a 3.72 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in his two previous starts. We've seen both sides of Clemens as a starter through two starts, six innings of one-run ball against the White Sox and 3.2 innings with three earned runs allowed against the Twins. Clemens has done through the Angels lineup once through three innings of relief work - giving up an earned run in each outing.
Erick Aybar made the most of his one at-bat against Clemens in his career, hitting a solo home run. Hank Conger has a double in one at-bat. Josh Hamilton has a strike out in one at-bat. Mark Trumbo is 1-for-2 with a strike out and a walk. Mike Trout wouldn't be Mike Trout if he didn't have two walks against Clemens in his career.
Jerome Williams is making his fourth start of the season against the Astros today. He has a 3.05 ERA and 1.30 WHIP against the Houston this season, not bad for a spot starter. Williams has bounced between the bullpen and the rotation all season. He has picked up the win in his last two starts - even after giving up six runs through five innings on September 10 in Toronto.
Robbie Grossman has had the best track record against Williams this season, going 2-for-3 with a run batted in. Jason Castro leads a long list of Astros batting 1-for-(fill in the blank) for their career, at least Castro's one hit was home run. Jose Altuve, Chris Carter, Matt Dominguez, and L.J. Hoes each have a hit in their careers against Williams.
