Preview
Could it possible happen? Could the Astros win two straight series in a row?
Dallas Keuchel is the man tasked with guiding the Astros to that second straight series win. Today will be the left-hander's third appearance against Los Angeles this season, and his second start. In his lone start on May 31, he allowed two runs over seven innings. Keuchel picked up his second win, the Angels were only able to string together hits in the second innings. A Mark Trumbo double, singles from Josh Hamilton and Chris Iannetta, sacrifice bunt, and fielders choice resulted in the two runs.
Outside of a Trumbo double and Howie Kendrick home run, Keuchel has held the Angels to a handful of singles. Mike Trout is 1-for-3 with a strikeout. Hamilton is 1-for-4 with a strikeout. J.B. Shuck (0-3) and Grant Green (0-2) have failed to get a hit thus far in their careers against the tonight's Astro starter.
On the mound today for the Angels is Garrett Richards. Making his fifth start since returning to the rotation. As a starter, he is 2-3 with 3.98 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. He has made four previous appearances against Houston thus far, and his second start. His first start of the season was against Houston, 6.1 innings of works and four runs allowed. Richards has three quality starts thus far in the month August, holding the Yankees to two runs over eight innings in his more recent start.
Look for Trogdor (Chris Carter) to continue burninating Angels' pitching. Carter is the only Astros hitter with multiple hits off Richards, he is 4-for-6 with a home run and two runs batted in. Robbie Grossman and Matt Dominguez each check in with a single each in their careers against Richards. Jose Altuve is 0-for-2 with two walks against tonight's starter.
