Well there isn't much else to say about last night's game, expect to say what possibly could be next? This season feels like the day Carlos Lee ran over Adam Everett, Jimmy Paredes running into Jose Altuve, and Marwin Gonzalez injuring himself stepping on first all rolled into one. But, we solider on. Looking forward to a bright future soon to come (hopefully).
Tonight's starter for the Rangers is Derek Holland. The funny man is coming one of his best performances of the season - eight scoreless innings against Oakland Sunday. He struck out 10 Athletics' hitters in that game. Thus far through 33 starts in 2013, Holland has been better away from the Ballpark at Arlington with a 2.61 ERA on the road and 7-1 record.
Holland has a 1-1 record and 5.50 ERA in three starts at Houston in his career. In his most recent start against Houston on May 19 last season, Holland gave up five runs over five innings. Jose Altuve is 1-for-3 against the left-hander. Brett Wallace failed to get a hit in three at-bats against Holland. The former A's slugger Chirs Carter has 10 career at-bats against Holland with two hits and two strike outs.
The Astros have decided to a six-man rotation in light of the positive performances from Brett Oberholtzer and tonight's starter Brad Peacock. In Peacock's first start since returning from the farm, he threw a career-high seven innings and struck out a career-high ten batters. Peacock will need to continue to show confidence and his signature control with zoned-in Rangers hitters Adrian Beltre and Ian Kinsler. Each had two hits and three runs scored in last night's game.
Alex Rios will be making his first start as a Ranger today in left field.
