As I watched the Astros-Rangers game last night, witnessing another blown Astros lead, I couldn't help but be a little depressed. The 'pen has faltered so many times this year, and wins have been hard to come by. Just imagine poor, beleaguered Bo Porter, and the offense that toils and puts together a lead a lot of the time, only to see it vanish. Its been rough for those guys.
CSN Houston and the bullpen make it hard to be full time Astros fans.
Rangers fans make it easy.
After the game, on Twitter there was a tweet from a Rangers fan that said something along the lines of "Suck it, Astros. There's only one Texas team." Real nice, stay classy Arlington. If the Commish and MLB wanted an in-state rivalry, then by God they're gonna get it. We don't need obnoxious Rangers fans telling us we suck. We know damn well we suck right now. Just enjoy your little five year run of blowing World Series appearances and being thwarted by the A's, and then go back to focusing on how Tony Romo can throw less interceptions. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Meantime, the Astros will be building this team the right way, with a manager that will have them playing with 100% effort & class.
There was an article posted last night on MLB.com that said Bo Porter was being thought of in Washington as a replacement to the retiring Davey Johnson. His response was that he was "100% entrenched to getting our situation [in Houston] to where we want to be". Just like the fans here at TCB, our manager is committed to staying the course and seeing the rebuild through. And with players like Jose Altuve and Brandon Barnes who give it their absolute all every game, and Brett Wallace, who has been up and down between AAA and the bigs so many times, and now seems to be figuring it out before our very eyes, its still easy for me to watch/listen to every game. Even if the season is a lost cause, I'm still extremely proud to be an Astros fan, and wouldn't have it any other way.
