Lucas Harrell has not had the best outting for the Astros this evening. In the second inning he was hit by a an Alberto Callaspo line drive in his mid section.
Harrell was able to recover from the hit and throw the ball to first, however, he was clearly affected by the hit as eight of his next nine pitches were called balls by the umpire. After loading the bases Harrell would get Erick Aybar and Mike Trout to flyout to get out of the inning unscathed.
In the next inning Harrell continued to struggle with his control by walking Josh Hamilton after Mark Trumbo reached on a Matt Dominguez error (never though I would say that). With Ronny Cedeno heading towards second base for a pickoff play Harrell threw the ball into the ground about halfway to second base.
The ball rolled to Robbie Grossman in leftfield but fortunately the runners were unable to advance on the Harrell miscue.
Not a good night for Harrell but he gutted it out and kept the Astros in the game. Harrell's final line:
5 IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 6BB, 1SO
Three pitches into the sixth inning Paul Clemens gave up a homerun to Brendan Harris removing any chance Harrell had at collecting a win. Not a good night indeed. At least he won't take the loss.
