RHP Lucas Harrell (3-4, 5.11 ERA / 1.78 WHIP) vs. LHP Jeff Locke (3-1 / 3.15 ERA / 1.23 WHIP)
The Astros rebounded after captain collision ended game one, by actually taking the game in extra innings and winning. Leaving Houston in fine shape to win the series with Lucas Harrell on the mound.
Harrell has had a rough go of it in his past few starts; he has failed to pitch past the fifth in his past three starts. This could happen to any pitcher is facing Detroit twice and Los Angeles over a three game stretch. Taking out the two starts against Detroit, Harrell has an ERA of 3.375 over 7 starts. In two starts against Pittsburgh last year, Harrell has a record 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA. Jose Altuve is batting .500 (3/6) against today's opposing starter Jeff Locke.
Locke is making his 21st start as a Pirate, Locke has put solid number in 2013 thus far - 3-1 record with a 3.15 ERA. Over his past three starts, Locke has given up 7 ERs. Locke will work a combination of sinker, curveball, and changeup to keep the Astros off-balance. As for Pittsburgh batter, no surprise that McCutchen is batting over .500 against Harrell with a home run and 2 RBIs in three at-bats. Also look out for Garrett Jones; he is batting .333 with a matching home run and 2 RBIs.
