Astros GIF Recap: Houston Astros At Seattle Mariners April 9, 2013; Astros Win 16-9

Otto Greule Jr

The Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners: The bats have come alive for the Astros.

The Astros bats have busted out in a big way: six runs in the first; three runs in the second; and two runs in the third. I've had trouble keeping up with GIFs.

1st Inning

Carlos Pena gets the scoring started with a double to the right-center field wall.

JD Martinez follows with a single to left field to score a run.

Matt Dominguez and Jose Altuve followed with hot shots that bounced off defenders

2nd Inning

After Erik Bedard cruised through the bottom half of the first inning the Astros hitters busted out the homerun shot with both Chris Carter and JD Martinez hitting their first homeruns of the season.

On Trogdor's homerun this guy attempted to catch the ball

3rd Inning

In the third inning Marwin Gonzalez showed off his homerun swing

Carter contributed a single to score another run which I didn't GIF because I'm so far behind on uploads that I'll be here all night doing every single scoring play.

4th Inning

Jose Altuve goes deep (now it's just getting ridiculous)

Game Thoughts

With a 13-0 lead heading into the fifth inning at the stroke of midnight on the east coast I decided to take advantage of the Astros lead and catch up on some sleep. Before I hit the hay I did watch the first inning of Paul Clemens major league debut which was less than stellar. In four innings Clemens allowed five runs on six hits and one walk. He followed Erik Bedard who had a much better outing by allowing zero runs, one hit and two walks all while striking out three batters. As a matter of fact Bedard had a perfect game going into the fourth inning when he allowed the hit on his pitching line.

Offensively, just about everyone contributed offensively. Four Astros hit five homeruns and Jose Altuve, one of those four, fell a triple short of the cycle. The other three homerun hitters included: Chris Carter (two homeruns), J.D. Martinez and Marwin Gonzalez. The only person that didn't contribute anything was Brett Wallace who struck out four times in four at bats.
