Hopefully today will be looked on as a historic day in Astros' history. Today, Robbie Grossman made his debut in an Astros' uniform. It was a good day for Grossman with 2 doubles in 5 atbats in front of the home folks.
I really like Grossman in the leadoff spot in front of Jose Altuve. This could be a one two punch for the Astros for many years to come. We could see Grossman drawing a lot of 1st inning walks and this could lead to Altuve getting good pitches to hit. Grossman has the speed to go 1st to 3rd on a single which could lead to the Astros getting on the scoreboard in the 1st inning of games.
We were all sad to see Maxwell get hurt, but you can't help but be excited to see Grossman in the lineup. We now have several young players playing that could have a long term future with the Astros. Grossman, Altuve, Castro, Dominguez, and Laird could all be in the future plans of the team. I am thinking that we will also see Cosart, Wojo, Singleton, and possibly Springer, Santana, and Fontana before the end of the season.
Things are looking up guys. The future is now.
