TCB March Madness 2013: Carlos Correa Vs George Springer

Up the middle top prospect battle: shortstop prospect Carlos Correa vs outfield prospect George Springer

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training, 64 players will face off in a head-to-head public vote to determine who advances to the next round, and who will eventually be crowned the community's favorite Astros player. For more details, click here for the introductory post.

The rules are simple: Determine which player you think should advance to the next round by voting for that player. Arguments made for an advancing player in the comments section below may be used in that player's description for the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up:

32 - Carlos Correa

Sitting right here is the most dangerous 8-seed in recent history. He's not an Astro yet, but I wouldn't be shocked if the young shortstop from Puerto Rico ends up in the Final Four. He was taken No. 1 overall in the 2012 draft because of a veritable Home Depot's worth of tools, including plus power and a great feel at the plate. He's hardly played pro ball yet, but it's easy to see Correa owning this bracket for the next 10 years. -David

Vs

33 - George Springer

The lanky outfielder from UConn is the first real five-tool outielder Houston has had in its system since the days of Hunter Pence, Richard Hidalgo and Bobby Abreu. After being taken 11th overall in the 2011 draft, Springer has shot through the Houston system using all five of those tools. He made it to Double-A last season after hitting .316/.398/.557 at High A Lancaster with 22 home runs and 28 steals. He did less well for Corpus, hitting .219/.288/.342 in 81 PAs and raising questions of whether he'll make enough contact to become a solid major leaguer. Still, the tools are impressive and he should go into spring with a chance to show the Astros brass he's ready sooner rather than later. -David
