Three different Astros had homeruns, four had a double and one had a triple. During today's broadcast of the Astros game Bill Brown made an interesting point. The Astros lead the Grapefruit League in on-base percentage, homeruns, doubles and naturally on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS). They also lead the league in steals. We've been stressing that Spring statistics don't mean much and they still don't, however, for those of us looking for a counter-argument against the naysayers saying this team is going to be historically bad, this might be something we can use.

Batters

Chris Carter had not one but two homeruns in this game leading to a final 2-3, five runs batted in, three runs scored offensive line. He also played some solid defense in left field. Others joining in offensively include Jose Altuve (1-3, 1BB, 1R), Carlos Pena (1-2, 1BB, 1R), Justin Maxwell (2-3, 1BB, 1RBI, 1R) and Jason Castro and Brandon Laird who each hit a homerun. Overall the Astros offense scored 11 runs on 12 hits and three walks.

Pitching

Bud Norris started the game went six innings and striking out five while allowing two runs on three hits two walks. Erik Bedard pitched the last three innings, striking out five batters and allowing only one hit.
