Astros outfield prospect Ariel Ovando vs Pitching prospect Brady Rodgers.

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training, 64 players will face off in a head-to-head public vote to determine who advances to the next round, and who will eventually be crowned the community's favorite Astros player. For more details, click here for the introductory post.

The rules are simple: Determine which player you think should advance to the next round by voting for that player. Arguments made for an advancing player in the comments section below may be used in that player's description for the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up:

42 - Ariel Ovando

A big-bodied teenager from the Dominican Republic, Ariel Ovando showed improvement in a repeat performance at Greeneville last year, posting a .287/.350/.444 slash line. Still seen as raw, Ovando was the recipient of a $2.6 million signing bonus in 2011 by the previous administration. During an visit to Greeneville, Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said in an interview last year that he initially didn't know a lot about Ovando, but came away impressed with the outfielder's advances. -Glenn

Vs

54 - Brady Rodgers

Drafted in the third round of the 2012 MLB draft, right-handed pitcher Brady Rodgers did well for himself in low A Tri-City posting a 2.89 ERA in 12 starts and 62.1 innings with the club. His seven wins was tied for the lead on the team and third in the New York-Pennsylvania League. Expect Rodgers to continue to make solid progress through the minors next year.
