TCB March Madness 2013: Philip Humber Vs Ross Seaton

The veteran starter Philip Humber vs the prospect starter Ross Seaton

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is under way. From now until the end of Spring Training, 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head-to-head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the community's favorite Astros player. For more details, click here for the introductory post.

The rules are simple: Determine which player you want to advance to the next round by voting for that player. Any of the excellent arguments made for an advancing player in the comments section below may be used in that player's description in the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively, or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up:

4 - Philip Humber

The 3rd-overall pick by the Mets in the 2004 draft, Humber struggled in the minors after undergoing ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, and bounced between organizations before the White Sox picked him up off waivers in 2011. In April 2012, he threw a perfect game against the Seattle Mariners, but injuries and ineffectiveness followed, landing him on waivers, where the Astros picked him up in November. Inconsistency and injury have plagued his career, but entering his age-30 season, he finds himself with one more opportunity to prove himself as an effective major league starter. -Anthony

Vs

61 - Ross Seaton

Right-handed pitcher Ross Seaton made significant progress in his development last year between AA and AAA. In 169.1 innings he posted a 3.93 ERA as a starter for the two levels which is a significant improvement over his 5.23 ERA in the 2011 season. His call-up to AAA is of particular note because he posted a 3.09 ERA in four starts. Continuing improvement in his development as a starter could mean a call-up to the majors at some point in 2013.
