This time last year, I had just been accepted to College, and was on the verge of insanity as I continued to wait for one of my only passions to swing into full gear. I have been an Astros fan since the one and only immaculate World Series run in 2005, and I haven't looked back since. Most of my friends and family hate baseball, they say "Its boring", or "It moves to slow", or something along those lines,so I grew up in a very anti baseball family. As I slowly became acclimated to the game, I fell in love with it. I remember going to my first Stros game in 2008, some of you may have recollection of this game, because the trio of Miggy Tejada, Lance Berkman, and El Fatso hit back to back to back homers. I still have a my ticket stub, with the essence of a Humberto Quintero autograph on it.
But as the Astros slowly and slowly got worse over the coming years, I needed an outlet, so I looked on the web, I read a few blogs, and read a few articles, and I came around to a diamond in the ruff, CrawfishBoxes.com hosted by SBNation. I had created an SBnation account a year and a half before to join The Texas Longhorns SBNation equivalent, in which I never visited, that's where the name Orangeblood Kid comes from, thought I should tell you that because I have had some people ask me why that's my screen name, but nevertheless I became and avid reader of the site, reading it every night during the spring and early summer while I should have been studying,or finishing a paper. But after months of lurking, after seeing people come and go, after seeing the site change editors, I finally chimed in, and I haven't stopped ever since. I may not always be in the comment section but, I am always lurking. I am absent most off seasons because of the whole (Insert air quotes) education thing but as the season starts up again I magically find my way back to this site, the site where Astros fans can vent our losing sorrows, where we can band together to create a world wide hash tag #Astrosmovies ( To be fair that was a lot of different Astros sites and other fans, but still!) I am glad to be back for a new season filled with fun game threads, Informing articles, and prolific draft predictions. I am glad to be back to late night conversing in game and minor league recaps, and the constant gossip over the draft, but most of all I am glad to be back to a community of people that like to have fun in the worst of times, its almost like a AA meeting.
Hi! I am Ben and I am an Astroholic! Cheers to a great season to come!
