In light of the Rangers signing Choo, I've started to wonder if these long contracts really will hurt them as the players age. It seems like they have an unlimited amount of money, which is obviously not true. I hate all Dallas sports teams, especially the Rangers, so it makes me sick to constantly see them mentioned with the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers as one of the big spenders in mlb. DFW is a huge market, but does it really compare to NY and LA? If and when the Astros get a tv deal done, do you expect it to allow us to compete with these other teams for free agents? The Houston market certainly seems like it should be able to support a similar deal, but I'm concerned long-term. I'm all for our rebuilding effort and not spending when it doesn't make sense, but in the future do you think well have the payroll flexibility to compete with the Rangers? I have limited knowledge on the situation, so I was just hoping to generate some discussion.
