I would like to see something along the lines of a WRC+ by position. As far as judging offensive value. I think WRC+ is a great stat but what would Jason Castro's WRC+ be against just catchers? I think that may give an even better picture of the players offensive value. A 1st basemen and a 2nd basemen with WRC+ 0f 105 look like the same offensive player but those numbers would be starkly different by position. WAR does this to a certain extent but brings defense into the equation. Maybe there is a stat that does this that I don't know about but I think lumping a SS with WRC+ of 90 with a corner outfielder with the same number discredits the player who plays the more difficult position when the SS was clearly more valuable offensively when you consider him in context of his position. I know some might argue that offensively they were the same player but that ignores the environment in which they play. The reality is that it's just harder to find offense at SS (among other positions) because of the defensive demands of the position. Just something I would like to see when comparing players offensive value.
