Brandon Barnes, Superman, and the Astros outfield

It's plays like this that remind me why baseball is such a great sport. In case y'all missed it, yesterday Brandon Barnes made a high flying catch that looked like something out of a Superman comic.

Of course this catch is great, but it makes you think: what in the Yogi Berra will the Astros outfield look like next year? So far the candidates on the team are: F Martinez, JD Martinez, B Barnes, J Schafer, B Bogusevic, J Paredes, and J Maxwell.

Each players BA/OBP/SLUG since the All-Star break:

F Martinez - .263/.329/.474

JD Martinez - .245/.294/.318

B Barnes - .219/.250/.301

J Schafer - .103/.235/.172

B. Bogusevic - .175/.277/.194

J Paredes - .206/.257/.254

J Maxwell - .238/.301/.463

None of these stat lines are overly impressive, but there is some solid talent on this list. Maxwell is in the outfield for sure next year because he can hit 400+ ft home runs on a regular basis and play solid defense. Also, it's not out of the question that JD Martinez could have a Jason Heyward like rebound next year. Assuming he can sort out his offensive troubles (though he has looked good the past week and has started driving the ball again).

But outside of that who could be in next years outfield? Will it be F Martinez , Paredes, or Barnes? Will they give Bogusevic or Schafer another chance? Will they use the free agent market or the minor leagues? Will it be Superman himself playing all three positions? Feel free to comment below and say what you think the Astros outfield will look like next year.
