So after seeing the players of both of these drafts under different GM's I am wondering if Luhnow had a very great influence on who they drafted this year versus Wade/Heck years.
It certainly is refreshing to see a vast amount of players being able to grab a walk a time or too or in some extreme cases almost every other at bat (I am looking at you Fontana). I am very excited in this because that is something that our minor's and consequently our MLB squad has failed to do very much of (walk or take pitches and wear out the SP).
So I guess what I want to discuss is do you think this was a product of Heck being unleashed under Luhnow or them coming up with a great stratagem for the draft and our minor leagues. I still would like them to be able to go after elite talent in the draft sometimes regardless of their ability to walk/take pitches but I do like the attribute in a hitter.
I also was a huge fan of our draft regarding position players and them selecting mostly LH hitters, something our minor's and MLB club also sorely lack. I would like them to take more risks on elite LH pitchers early in the draft this year since that seems to be our one weak depth spot (although the trades have helped some, but I am talking more HS projectable hard throwing southpaws).
