So, at the beginning of the season, I just knew last season was a fluke and while we weren't going to contend, we couldn't be as bad as last year. I was thinking of about a 65-67 win season with about 95-97 losses. I really didn't think we would break the century mark twice in a row. And our solid start helped reinforce this in my mind. Unfortunately, I think we can all agree that another 100 loss season is upon us. It sucks but it's just something we are going to have to get over. Soon enough the team will be solid again and not be filled with AAAA guys just manning most of the positions until the talent arrives. So, with all that in mind, I ask this question: On what day do we endure our 100th loss? Keep in mind we already have 75 losses.
I'm going with September 10th. My rational is simple: If we lost every game for the rest of the month, we would hit 100 losses on August 31st. Not gonna happen. I refuse to believe we will have another horrible month. Can't do it. Maybe I'm pig headed but I won't believe it until it happens. I see us winning another 6 games this month. Which means we only get swept once for the rest of the month. It could be more as we might win a series but I don't see that happening, except against the cubbies. That pushes us to September 7th as the next 100 loss day. If we keep with my semi wishful thinking, we win 2 more games by then and that makes it September 9th. I said the 10th with the hope of squeezing out some extra win as we have been horribly unlucky and that luck must turn at some point.
So let me know what date you think. And while there isn't a prize or anything, you can have all the bragging rights you want and even an internet pat on the back.
