Empty seats

Stay connected for news and updates

While it is understandable that people will not spend what little discretionary funds they have on going to see a bad baseball team; it is still hard to accept the number of empty seats at Minute Maid each night. I have attended the last 4 games and have sat basically alone. After the 5th in the Terrace deck last night there were two of us. Me and my personal "beverage" vendor. He even sat and talked for a few minutes about how bad the team was and the direction it was going. (I'm not a big drinker so he really had nothing else to do).I gave him a quick laugh with, "The Titanic has backed up and hit the iceberg again." I heard it somewhere and it seemed to make his day.

The point is this. We want the Astros to improve. We want Jim Crane to give us some hope by bringing in a couple of second(ish) tier veteran free agents next year to help this young team win. I agree with all of that. But we have to show that we care about this team. There are a lot of great things being said in here about being a fan. There are a lot of self proclaimed "die hard fans" IN HERE. Ok.....where are you when the game starts? TV stats are showing a 25% drop in viewing. that shows that "fans" are not even watching this team at home. We are headed for the lowest attendance an many many years. If we want to call ourselves REAL fans...we need to so it and show up. Show your true Astros colors. Still good seats available for tonight.
