Astros Start Second Half With A Thud, Lose To Giants 5-1

One of the things I look forward to every Friday evening is the recap by Chris. His headlines are clever, his recaps are pure awesome and his commentary is top notch. Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen tonight because he decided to have a baby. So instead you get me. Hold your applause.

Pitching

Wandy Rodriguez pitched like Wandy Rodriguez. In six innings Wandy allowed four runs on seven hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Obviously not the best start by Wandy but he kept the team in the game. Rhiner Cruz followed with one hit, one walk innings. Enerio Del Rosario pitched the eight and allowed a run on a hit. He did strikeout two batters so that's nice to see.

Hitting

The ninth got interesting with two runners on and one out in the inning, but you know the drill. The only Astros to reach base more than one was Jed Lowrie who had a hit and a walk. Chris Snyder homered in the seventh. That is all.

Defense

On the negative side Chris Johnson had a throw that allowed a Giants player to reach on an infield single. I don't think Matt Downs helped him at first.

On the positive side the Astros turned a nice double play in the seventh that helped Wandy get out of the inning. Jose Altuve also had a nice barehanded play earlier in the game.

Saturday

8:05 p.m. CDT Lucas Harrell vs. Tim Lincecum (hopefully he doesn't fix his issue against the Astros)
