What is the difference between "optioning" a player and "outrighting" him. For example, the Blue Jays optioned Adam Lind to AAA on May 31st, then, while he was still in Vegas, out righted him on May 31st. Does this have anything to do with the 25 or 40 man rosters? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, it has fantasy applications, but I have never understood the difference. As a fan, we try to figure out what the teams we root for are doing, this would help me appreciate the game.
