Quick reason why Lyles not making the team is a good thing.

I will be completely honest and say i was one of the people who was upset with this organization when Lyles who had preformed great in spring training was not on the opening day roster. I was excited to see him promoted when he was but by that time had come to terms with it maybe being too soon. The reason i don't want him to make the opening day roster this year also has nothing to do with how he will or how he has preformed this spring training.

I read an old scouting report referring to his thin frame and that he could maybe gain some volocity as he grows to make him that much better of a pitcher. This has not happened yet however and if this information is wrong by all means please correct me, lord knows i don't hold back to correct people on here if i see that they are wrong. I would love to see him find a way to not only keep his control but also to add 2 or 3 mph on avg to his fastball. I think it would take him from a 3 or 4 starter to the 2 or 3 starter that we want him to be. I know his control has been what made him great in full seasons at single and double A but his short stint in AAA was not nearly as impressive and i just think a few more months as a 21 year old will just give him that much more of a chance to be very successful for the big league team.

Also another reason i think this can and maybe even should happen is the fact that even with Myers in the pen, we still have a good option of 5 pitchers who could be seen as better for right now to fill the rotation. Wandy and Norris are locks at 1 and 2. Happ is prob slated at 3 currently and lets face it at 2.6 mil he is going to make the rotation at least to start the season no matter what. Livan is my fav for the 3 or 4th slot basically either being before or after Happ however that falls. And last but not least Weiland. I don't see how a trip to AAA will help the 23 year old too much at this point and so far (and yes i know it is ST) he has looked very good esp after the 4 no hit innings against the yanks. This year with us still being in the national league should be a much easier task for him than when he was in the heat of a playoff race with Boston last year and had tons of pressure on a team that was already falling apart.

so there is why i see and kinda want Lyles not to make the opening roster. Your thoughts?
