Ryan Freel

I guess it's pretty obvious why I am posting something about Ryan Freel today. I haven't bothered to post anything for sometime...well ever since getting back to America. Ryan Freel committed suicide. I haven't read anything official but I assume that there's a good chance that concussions may have played a role in his desicion. It seems as if he probably had a few with the way he played every game as if it was the only game he'd ever get to play. I don't want to go on about suicide or concusions or any of that. I just wanted to say that Ryan Freel was my favorite non Astro player, and had he been an Astro he would have been my favorite player. I always wanted the Astros to get him. In his prime he was exactly the type of guy that I wanted on my team batting lead off. He got on base, stole bases and the most imressive part was his fielding. I always thought he looked great at third and center whenever I saw him, so I just went and glanced at his fangraphs page and he rated pretty well at 3rd, CF, RF, LF, and 2nd. He is one of the two players that I looked forward to seeing play the field more than watching them hit... the other being Caminiti.
