Halfway through the offseason
It’s time for a rhythmic recap
So without further adieu, that’s my cue
To put on my Stro’s writing cap
.
Dave ‘n Brett were moved along
JD followed them out the door
They did their jobs, did ‘em well
Couldn’t have asked for much more
.
A bit earlier than expected,
The new uni’s were unveiled
Despite all the hype and rumors
A more retro look prevailed
.
The manager’s staff was filled in
A rather anonymous assembly
Porter, Clark, and Brocail
Were joined by Mallee and Trembley
.
The old mascot returned! Whoopee, I guess
I’ve known no other than Jack
But I’ll yield to more experienced fans
And be pleased that Orbit is back
.
Our winter leaguers performed well
And the search for a DH continues
Such a strange thing to say, but now we will play
Most our road games in AL venues
.
Uncle Wilton had left us
Then returned, to jubilation
Only to pack his bags again
And head to higher elevation
.
Another pitcher’s transactions
That proved too confusing for me
Was the polar opposite of Lopez
A completely different Storey
.
The man with the plan, Jeff Luhnow
On sly moves continues to thrive
Making four nifty picks in a row
In the draft they call the Rule V
.
We reached a deal with Phil Humber
Which is quite an interesting saga
Fair or not, I can’t help recalling
The Astros tenure of Galarraga
.
No major moves, but no real surprise
Of course, there might be one soon
We may be in for another bumpy season
But with the youngin’s coming up, stay tuned!
