BEEEP BEEEP Astros Lose 19-3 BEEEP BEEEP

This is a test of the emergency bad baseball system.

This is only a test.

If you watched the Houston Astros game today against the Colorado Rockies, remain calm. Try lying down on a flat surface for a while. Try watching Sunday night baseball instead to see how the game should be played.

Whatever you do, stay away from the box score.

If you saw the game accidentally while flipping through the channels (surface exposure), drink at least five beers tonight and you should be able to forget anything that you saw.

If you watched the whole thing, please contact us at Klondike 5-4796. We will set you up with a qualified grief counselor to talk you through the PTSD you are most likely suffering.

If you had the misfortune of actually attending the game...well, let's not even think about that.

For those of you who only saw the score, please note this is what happens when Triple-A pitchers try to hone their craft in the majors. Bad things. Very bad things.

Again, what you have seen was only a test of the emergency bad baseball system. We now return you to your regularly scheduled baseball website.

I was there too.

I left after the 4th when it was 8-1 due to prior engagements. Imagine my surprise when I checked the score later and it was 19-1. I feel for the 100 people that stuck around for the whole game. Oh well, I’m back out there tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and then not again for almost 6 months. Go get ’em, guys.

Oh, and imagine if Tulo, Cargo, and Helton were actually in the lineup instead of on the bench.

Can someone say 33-3?

I watched the whole game, I actually laid down on my couch, closed my eyes, and took a nice nap.

In reality though, it was a AAA staff on the mound today, when Pendleton and Cedeno pitched it literally felt like batting practice.

If i were Arnold Rothstein id pay Ryan Braun all the money he
wants to stop going on homer streaks against the poor Astros....

I listened to it. For some reason, I kept listening to it…

"He walked 18."
"New league record!"
"Struck out 18."
"Another new league record! In addition he hit the sportswriter, the public address announcer, the bull mascot twice...also new league records! But, Joe, this guy's got some serious shit."

I feel bad for Busta...

I mean my Friday game was a glorious victory and then he goes less than 48 hours later and witnesses a murder…poor fella.

Seriously though, this was tied for the worst run differential in franchise history. It was bad. But at least our hopes weren’t crushed like last night.

I wonder where he'll go.
Phillies starter Roy Oswalt is no longer considering retirement after this season, but the Phillies probably won’t exercise their end of his $16MM mutual option for 2012. Dan Mennella examined his stock heading into free agency this winter.

I think he likes Philly

He’ll probably re-sign for a lesser amount, but at this point he’ll either go where the money is or where the talent is.

I really don't think money is an issue, but the fact that he wants to be on a winning team is.

He’ll likely stay with the Phils. Or something much worse, he could sign with the Brewers.

Ouch...

Well I guess its smart to play a division that carries the worst team in baseball AND a team that hasn’t won in like 20 years.

Maybe he’ll sign a 2-year extension for less money similar to what Carpenter did.

I was so frustrated with the Texans game, I found myself watching the Astros get blown out instead.

Frustrated?

They hung in there, punch-for-punch, with a very good Saints team; I’d be optimistic if I were a Texans fan.

It’s funny; before today, I fully expected the Texans to lose to the Saints. But after watching them take the lead three times, and seeing them blow so many redzone opportunities (4 field goals?), I can’t help but feel like they should have won this game.

Red Sox have Astros fever

IN the ninth inning in a tie game, the first Bostn batter reached first.

and tene Boston gave away an out with a bunt.

Predicatble the runne ultimately as stranded at third.

Now the Yankees first batter walks.

Let’s see if Yankees bunt

Grounder to first for out tow

Runner to third

This is developing the same as the Red Sox in the top of the inning

J.R. Towles

I think I remember Clack talking about how Towles ranked at the bottom of pitch framing ability. Its hard to notice something like that, but in last nights game Lucas Harrell threw some pitches that appeared to be not even close, but then foxtrax would have it at the bottom of the zone or just on the corner. The way Towles caught the ball I wouldn’t have even thought it was close, but it was a lot closer than I thought. I know foxtrax isn’t the most accurate measurement tool, but that’s just what I noticed yesterday.

by conroestro on Sep 26, 2011 7:03 AM CDT via mobile reply actions

Great point. Towles is really a poor defensive catcher. I imagine Mills was thinking that Towles was familiar with Harrell from their time in AAA. To me, it would make more sense to have a veteran catch the rookie to guide him through the line-up.

19-3 loss

this is good… got a lot of playing time…winning, score, etc..means nothing right now…the more time these young players get the better…. also, getting kicked around is kind of cathartic….they won 2 or 4 from rockies…good!… NOW WE ELIMINATE THE CARDS FROM THE PLAYOFFS….MIKE H
