Guess everyone is watching the hand egg

I almost can’t believe Mills is sitting Wallace today after his HR last night.

I’ve got the Texans on and I’m writing a TCB piece for tomorrow.

by AstroB on Sep 25, 2011 1:16 PM CDT reply actions

Before the start last night, Mills told Stephen Goff that he intends to give Wallace more starts in the final stretch of games. Mills says he will try to do some mixing and matching of players as the seasons ends so that the players will feel like there is a lot of competition at the positions as they go to spring training.

I’ve finally got the Astros on television, but with the Texans playing, I am switching back and forth and watching, picture in picture.

I haven’t looked up Milwood’s career stats vs. the Astros, but it seems like he usually stymies the Astros. I recall some sterling games by him when he wasn’t otherwise having a good season.

I wish Altuve could lay off the high heat...

He’s getting himself behind in the count chasing a pitch he doesn’t seem to be able to keep fair.

Harrell with bad fielding play, that allows run to score. He would have been better off taking the easy out.

I think I remember something about that kid, who is from Austin. If my recollection is right, I happened to be at lunch with one of his relatives shortly after he was drafted. The relative is a lawyer and was helping with his negotiations.

Don’t have the audio on for the Texans’ game, but it looks like something bad happened t them…like the Saints taking the lead.

Yeah, that was just a nice pass by Brees.

It always seems extra costly when the fielder turns down the easy out for a more difficult out and it blows up in his face.

"Nothing says romance like a face full of QWERTY." - The first-ever edition of Ask BLAS

by mike_o on Sep 25, 2011 3:36 PM CDT up reply actions

That’s not too surprising. The movie tries to appeal to the broad swath of the movie-going public, many of whom are not baseball fans or may know nothing about baseball. It’s not surprising that there would be some inaccuracies, short cuts, dramatizations, etc. in the story telling. That will be noticed by baseball people, but not the public. I heard Art Howe say that he thought it would be like a documentary. That is a very unrealistic expectation.

by clack on Sep 25, 2011 3:45 PM CDT up reply actions

an easy-going player’s manager makes for a boring movie. The movie in it’s first iteration was definitely moving towards a documentary type of movie, but that’s what got it dropped by Sony. They didn’t want a documentary movie, because a baseball documentary is not something most in the general public would care to see.

So this was the game I had to go to...

I will admit though, it was kinda fun seeing if Pendleton could keep giving up homer after homer. I wanted them to give up at least 20 runs. Another note on Pendleton, he kinda reminds me of Tim Byrdak. Remember the facial hair his last outing? And Juan Freaking Abreu just keeps dominating. Too bad I didn’t stick around for the whole game to watch him pitch. Oh, and it was fan appreciation day…
