Brett Myers Continues Nice Run, Astros Beat Cubs 3-2
Even with everyone in the Houston bullpen, even with Brad Mills annoying the entire Cubs fanbase with his pitching switches, even with a rain delay, Brett Myers would not be denied.
Again, the Bearded one went out and this time was staked to a lead. So, the right-hander shut down the Cubbies for the rest of the game, handing it straight to closer Mark Melancon, who was brought in during the eighth inning, which has to be a point for Millsy. As bad as some of his strategic moves are, this one was slightly forward-looking, using his best reliever in a key situation.
What's more, Millsy left him in the game, even after that rain delay made him sit from the end of the eighth to the ninth. Melancon did a good job once he came back out and Houston got out of Chicago with a victory.
Considering Houston only scored three runs, the offense wasn't gangbusters, but J.D. Martinez, Clint Barmes and Brian Bogusevic all had nice games. Did you see that Clint Barmes caught Michael Bourn for the team's fWAR lead? I think that's just as big an occasion as the 100 loss thing, but I'm old-fashioned.
At any rate, the Astros move onto Cincinnati for a series between two disappointing teams. I can't wait...

Just a note:
Nobody anywhere can catch Michael Bourn in anything. Proven fact.
Chuck Norris once tried to nunchuck Michael Bourn for stealing his home plate, Michael Bourn proceeded to steal those too.
