Matt Downs on Paternity Leave
I'm not sure if this is worthy of a Fanpost, but with the new MLB rules concerning paternity leaves, the Astros would have a chance to call a player up in Downs's absence. Downs is most likely not going to be out for more than three days, but I wonder what the Astros would like to do, given then chance. The Astros could call up bullpen help, either calling up Fulchino or Valdez for a 3-day stint, or possibly longer if they decide to send someone else down. But we just got back from the All-star break, so we really don't need bullpen help. Since Tommy Manzella & Jimmy Paredes are on the 40-man roster, they could call one of them up. It would be pretty stupid since they would waste an option on 1 of the players. And there's always the option of calling up J.R. Towles if the FO wants to give him 1 last chance.
But since it's only 3 days, I'd probably do nothing. Anyway, thoughts?

Wesley Wright called up
If the Astros could show any sign of being ahead, rather than being behind the competition, maybe, just maybe the Astros will be good in the future.... Maybe
Is he going to court or has the man he-birthed something?
This is pretty bizarre. Not a fan
My first mistake was assuming you knew what I was talking about.

I see nothing wrong with it. Having a kid is a great moment for his family and he deserves the opportunity to take a few days to relish it.

Because Oswaldo Navarro is much better than Angel Sanchez?
There’s no real reason to cut him. We don’t have anyone better.

Matt Downs is better.
Sanchez does absolutely nothing on this roster. Plus the Astros need the extra reliever as their starting rotation can only go 5-6 innings most nights.

Sometimes having a pinch hitter is crucial
Sanchez has been clutch sometimes.

J-Mike at least should be the first to go.

I don’t mind Sanchez. He’s acceptable for a 6th OF. Can spot start at SS, 2B, and 3B. Decent batting average. Good in the clubhouse. The Astros have bigger problems than him. Plus, it’s not like they have anybody on the farm ready to take his role. It’s not viable to only have 5 infielders on the roster.

What the hell ...
… did Angel do to make you want to kick him to the curb? Dude has been one of our steadiest infielders this season. I agree with the later posts – if you want to dumb one of these fringe guys, make it Jason Michaels. He is worthless. Plus, when we trade Keppinger this month, we’ll need a good 2B/SS.
