ST Game No. 6: St. Louis Cardinals at Houston Astros

LAKELAND, FL - MARCH 02: T. J. Steele #92 of the Houston Astros bats during the game against the Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium on March 2, 2011 in Lakeland, Florida. The Astros defeated the Tigers 6-3. (Photo by Leon Halip/Getty Images)

Grapefruit League record (which is meaningless anyway): 2-3

Astros pitchers scheduled to work: Ryan Rowland-Smith, Brandon Lyon, Jeff Fulchino, Fernando abad, Mark Melancon, Patrick Urckfitz, Lance Pendleton, Casey Fein, Ross Wolf.

Astros lineup:

1) Michael Bourn, CF

2) Jason Bourgeois, LF

3) Hunter Pence, RF

4) Jason Michaels, DH

5) Brett Wallace, 1B

6) Chris Johnson, 3B

7) Angel Sanchez, SS

8) Matt Downs, 2B

9) J.R. Towles, C

Remember, Carlos Lee is out for a bit as he travels back to Houston for the Rodeo. I do like a top three of Bourn. Bourg and Pence.

damn you, OremLK, for pointing out that Wallace had improved his strike out rate.

Why is Carlos leaving ST for a rodeo?

Oh, that’s right. I forgot about how baseball is just his hobby and, since he had an MVP-like season last year, he doesn’t need any extra practice. (Guys, we’re talking practice here! Not a game…Practice! -Cue A.I. and/or Charlie Sheen)

Un-freaking-believable.

Hey, it’s not like they pay him well enough to forego the rodeo. He’d have to make at least 20 million for that.

As long as he worked it out with the coaching staff and they okay’d it I don’t have a problem with it. If you want to be upset at anyone it should probably be Mills, considering he would have to OK it.

I agree, timmy. it doesn’t bother me. spring training for the veterans is next to meaningless. so, if he misses a few days, it probably makes no difference.

Grounder to Sanchez ends the inning. Three of the four hits Hyphen has given up were to lefties. Didn’t he have a reverse platoon split last season?

Pence struck out to end the third. Jeff Fulchino in for Houston, replacing Lyon, who I didn’t realize pitched the third.

Hyphen’s line: 2 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
Lyon’s line: 1 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, 0 strikeouts

Who's going to start at catcher now that Castro is gone?

Q or Towles?
