Help identifying an autograph

Random, but maybe someone can help - I went to Astros spring training games for a few years as a kid between 1987-1990. While going through some old things, I found this baseball with this lone autograph on it. I can't for the life of me figure out who it is. It isn't necessarily an Astro - it could be anyone they played during Spring Training in those years. Thanks so much!

Ummm, I’m pretty sure it’s one Jeffrey Robert Bagwell.
Looks a little different than some of the others on the web but the
J and two L’s have me convinced. Very nice find!!!

No question

I would almost guarantee that is a young Bagwell autograph. I’ve been collecting Astros memorabilia since ‘73. I have Buff’s, Colt 45’s and Astros stuff all over the place (which drives my wife crazy). I truly believe that to be an early Bagwell autograph. It’s missing his usual skinny, sloppy “R” (later stuff) but I wouldn’t see that as a problem. Very nice piece. Hang on to it until after he’s inducted into the hall and watch the value double. Probably worth give or take $5……$30 now.

Not positive, but I'm inclined to agree with stidham and AstrosBill

The only letters I think I can identify are g,l,l in the last name. I did a cursory wikipedia check of Astros rosters during that time period and didn’t really see any last names that had those letters aside from Bagwell, whose first Spring Training with the Astros came in 1991. That doesn’t include all of the Spring Training invitees that didn’t make the team though, so who knows how many names I missed. It’s not exactly identical to a Bagwell autograph I found on google from around that time period, but it’s not so different that I’d rule it out either:

Pretty interesting mystery you’ve got there.

thanks guys. that was my first guess, but i have Bagwell’s autograph on a program from 3-4 years ago and it just didn’t look close enough to convince me.

the mystery continues, but i sure hope it’s his!

Only autograph I have from an Astro

is Lance Berkman. Met him in like ’01 or ’02. Was really nice and funny, chatted me up a bit. The signature is almost warn off though now. My little brother ruined his signed Berkman ball by waiving at Julio Lugo to come over and sign his.
