Astros Outright Pendleton, X. Cedeno, and King
The Astros release players from the 40 man roster, which now stands at 37. Pendleton can elect to become a free agent due to a prior outright, while Cedeno will automatically become a free agent following the World Series. King will be placed on Double A Corpus Christi's roster.

Blake King has good stuff, so I can see that.
Pendleton got blasted.
Cedeno was hit around too, but Id like to see himin OKC.
If i were Arnold Rothstein id pay Ryan Braun all the money he
wants to stop going on homer streaks against the poor Astros....
am i the only one?

Paul Clemens
I hope he gets a shot at the 5 spot in the rotation

I like Cedeno because he's a guy with potential
I’m not sure I can place my faith in Fernando Abad again, or Wesley Wright and his issues with pitching to RHBs. Sergio Escalona is good, but we should try to re-sign Cedeno as a backup. The more lefties, the better.
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
The only one I really wish they'd kept is Cedeno
He could have been a good guy to have at AAA next year in case of injuries. Of course we do have pretty good depth now with Oberholtzer, Clemens, and maybe even Cosart, but that depends on us not trading Wandy or Myers.

Odd about Pendleton
Considering they just claimed him. I wonder what people don’t like about him so much that he keeps getting dropped?
I wonder if the Astros are going to make a run at Kevin Kouzmanoff to give Paredes or Altuve a little more time in the minors? Hmm…If it works, that’s great trade-deadline trade bait.
I get releasing Pendleton
Look at his numbers here. Granted it was only 4.2 innings, but his numbers were atrocious. I think he was a bit lucky in New York, based off of his WHIP and SO/BB ratio. He just doesn’t look like he has major league stuff. I’m glad they gave him a shot, but it’s clear that it wouldn’t have worked for him here.
Regarding Kouzmanoff, that’s actually not a bad idea. He’s an above-average defender with some decent power, basically a rich man’s Chris Johnson. I would be happy to sign him. Paredes could split time between 3B and 2B and maybe SS while hoping avoiding the ridiculous regression that’s bound to plague him next year.
Currently loving: Jordan Schafer, Trayvon Robinson, Mark Appel, Nick Williams, and the Green Chile Double at Whataburger
I’m sure that Pendleton’s 4 HRs and 9 ER in the 4.1 innings that he pitched didn’t help. He doesn’t seem to have the put away stuff that would make him attractive as a reliever.

…and keep in mind that this is mostly about clearing room on the 40 man roster. The Astros have three players on the 60 day DL who will likely be coming back to the roster. And then you have the prospects who have to be protected on the 40 man. If the Astros didn’t have this pressure, Pendeleton might have stuck around.

Yeah, depending on what happens with Myers and Wandy in the offseason the trade deadline could be pretty uneventful next year.

Crane told the Houston Chronicle editorial board that MLB’s stalling on approval of the Astros’ ownership change would hurt the team’s ability to improve. He pointed out that the Nov. league meetings will occur after free agency has already started. Crane said he can’t evaluate players and put together a plan for next year. He added that McLane doesn’t want to own the team anymore, and implied that there is no leadership to make changes.

Crane has a point there.
So if Crane isn’t making decisions and preparing for next year, and Dragging isn’t making decisions and preparing for next year does that mean that Ed Wade is the only one preparing for next year right now.

I think that’s right. But Wade is operating without any guidance, which means he may be unable to do much.

That's why
I’m kinda hoping they spend a little money on “project” or “bounceback” players like Kouzmanoff and Lastings Milledge. It really wouldn’t hold back Paredes or Altuve’s development too far if they go down and work on their craft in AAA for a couple months. It might even help, given their uninspiring play in the majors in 2010. Flipping bounce-back veterans is a great way to restock the farm system – just ask the Blue Jays.
The chronicle recently backed up Crane for the first time it seems like.
