Astros vs. Cubs 7/28/10 @ 1:05

My family and I will be visiting Houston in late July, and we have tickets for the 7/28 day game at 1:05.  I have an 11 year old and a 7 year old.  We see 15 or 20 Rangers games a year, and just wanted to try something different...so we deicided to slide down to Houston to see the Astros.

I have a couple of general questions about the game, and I will appreciate any info, help, or suggestions that any of you may have.

First of all, we always get to the game early and get in as soon as the gates open...I am assuming for a 1:05 first pitch the gates open around 11:30?

Secondly, I have been to Minute Maid once, and it was the first year it was opened.  The way I remember it, parking was very limited.  If I am around the park by 10:30 or so, where are some good lots to park at...I am not worried about the price of parking, but of course I would like to be as close to the stadium as possible.  Anyone have any secret spots that are close?

Finally, does the ballpark have a kid park, or any kind of kid related section?  The kids always like to have something else to do if the game runs long or gets out of hand.

Anyways, help me out if you can...I appreciate any info.

Thanks guys.

so for 7:05 games it opens at 5:30

I drive to game by about 5:20 and you can find any lot. I park by meters now which cost 1 buck an hour. I used to park in lots 1 street away from stadium for 7 bucks. Well I have more to say but I gotta go to park now for game now. If you have any more questions, let me know

They have a kids area

called the Minute Maid squeeze play. It’s has some fun games, and there’s also a big T.V. you can watch the game on while you’re out there.
