Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

According to John Paul Morosi a Source tell him that the Astros may have opened late Friday to taking offers on Brett Myers. The Astros may have opened up to the idea of getting younger and shedding payroll. Astros may ask for one of the Twins' young starters of Scott Baker,Kevin Slowey, or Nick Blackburn as part of the package.

Now this could be

something to work with. Maybe get another prospect in this deal as Twins have plenty of you talent in all areas.

NOW were talkin!

Slowey please. Or Kyle Gibson. My worry is that Wade and Co are over valuing players that are in the bigs now or closer to it, as seen with what LA supposedly offered for Roy – 4 prospects – 3 upper tier. IF we have a chance to get Gibson, we must. Though I would be entirely cool with Slowey

I’d take Slowey. I’m a sucker for local guys coming back to play close to home. I doubt Gibson would be included since he’s one of their best prospects, but then again, I never thought they’d trade Ramos for Matt freakin Capps. Maybe we can fleece them and get Miguel Sano (a guy can dream), but someone like a Chris Parmelee or maybe Billy Bullock would be my guess.

Shedding payroll

what, the $1.3m left to pay Myers this year?

by AstroB on Jul 31, 2010 7:58 AM CDT reply actions

I’d take Gibson I think.

Myers may only have $1.3-2 mil left this yr but to have a chance to get maybe 2 prospects who are more advanced than what we got in return in previous trades you have to at least inquire about possibly making these trades. I like Myers but picking up younger talent is ALWAYS a good thing.
