Is DDJ not signing?
I wonder if the FA signings of Latin players is a sign the Astros will not be signing any more high dollar rule IV draftees. I was hoping they would sign at least one more of the 3 notables. Hopefully not DDJ though. At this point what are yalls feelings about the draft as we come about 3 weeks from last signing day? Who would rather the 9th(?) pick next year over DDJ?

Pretty sure they’re signing him and Wates. Andy Seiler from mlbbonusbaby has heard a lot of the first rounders won’t be signing until August including Deshields. The only question marks are Jacoby Jones and Plutko. And why do you hate DDJ so much? lol Did he steal your lunch money? Heck apparently loves him and thinks he can hit 15-20 bombs a year along with bein a good 2nd baseman. Jays and Rays wanted him after us so how can you think he’s such a bum? Not to mention these teams all got to work him out with other top prospects and see his tools several times. I don’t know. I just don’t see why so much hate. They signed Ovando for almost 3 mill as the power bat so who cares that they didn’t pick Josh Sale now?

To me he manifests my frustration with this Astro regime. A safe-ish and cost controlled overdraft that that I don’t believe is safe. If he is asking over slot I would certainly rather the budget be adjusted for next season, if the Astros even do that.
I disagree with your ideas on the signing of Ovando. Prospects are totally independent of each other and for that matter only the very top few matter more than meat sold by the pound. Just because two players might end up playing the same position there is no reason to consider such things as limiting factors.
My overwhelming disdain, distrust, concern are with ownership and all the other cronies Drayton has surrounded himself with.

If you don’t attempt to get him signed you are handicapping your draft next year. I agree that he was overdrafted but he was drafted by us and theres nothing to do but cheer him on. He has a very high ceiling and the potential to be a special player. I don’t see him reaching his ceiling but I do see him being at least an average every day 2B. Yes there were many I would have rather picked but, thats water under the bridge. I have no doubt he’ll sign. He’ll probably go barely over slot and probably already has agreed but the commish won’t sign off on it yet. And he really isn’t that safe of a pick. He has some signability risk. This is just a matter of one scouting department valuing certain tools and characteristics than main stream media and other organizations. Look at Barret Loux,that is someone who was overdrafted!
Wates will sign as well I’m sure but because of the transition to 2B being an issue, he’s probably signing overslot and waiting commish to sign off. I have a strong feeling Plutko is signing as well since the went to a game recently. He is the typical overslot HS pitcher so I think he’ll sign. Same as Seaton and Dydalewicz. Just have to wait for the commish to sign off

DDJ if he goes crazy with the money talks then you make the best choice , but i think he wont , this is what i like he has speed some pop he is advance knows the game has bloodlines so maybe he turns out to be an all star who knows
Wates iam shure he is going to sign for a little over the slot and guy can hit i hope they fast track him cus i think he can be one of thos guys to get to the bigs fast and be relly good top prospect type iam sold on him iam not sure why
Jones i think he signs idk just my gut tells me if DDJ gets crazy then turn your attention to this guy his swing looks good he has super star writing all over him at short stop
if worst comes to worst you sign wates and jones and next year draft rendon and a top ace type pitcher with 9 pick

Why do all of you think Jones will sign? Have I missed something? Leading up to and after the draft it seemed like that pick was just us taking a flyer on him. I kept hearing that he’s a first round talent and will cost a lot of money to sign and if I recall correctly he’s a Boras client. I’d love to have him but is this just wishful thinking or have you all actually heard encouraging new about him possibly signing?
Recent Heck interview here. He gives little chance for a Jones signing. He is optimistic about signing DeShields. He says the Astros and DDS are close on money.
PLEASE
Please sign DDJ. What do you think is going to happen next draft when the Astros have the 4th (or whatever) AND 9th picks? Forget any hopes of the Astros getting a high priced player. If they sign DDJ now, at least there is some hope they’ll spend an appropriate amount on that top pick next season.
