Apparently, with the Phils dealing with rotation issues, they are in the hunt for a front line starter. Rumor has it that Roy is leading that charge.

Other rumors note Philly is trying to unload Werth and Happ. Phils Gm "hinted" that they might strike some deal by this Saturday.

At least something is going on. This has Wades name written all over it, and he wouldn’t even be breaking his #1 rule: only trade with Philly.

I would assume Roy would agree to play with Philly. Imagine a 1-2 with both Roy’s? OMG. Holy two headed monster.

Regarding Philly’s prospects, I have a feeling this could turn into a 3 way deal. Philly wants to unload J. Werth, we don’t need him. Regarding Happ, I’m not really impressed and would hope he isn’t the main piece of an Oswalt trade.

I woulda tke Happ

as the 1b prospect in a deal…if werth goes to rays, I wouldn’t mind seeing Happ and Hellickson! That would be a Dream!

notes

Stark saying that Phills agressively dangling around werth…looks like rays are front runners…

price says

Oswalt & #Phillies — source wouldn’t say it’s down to “finishing touches.” But sounds like talks going on.

Looks like we could have a Rays/Phils/Stros 3 way…Maybe we can get Zobrist back…ha!

LOL

Well, how about:

Oswalt > Phils
Werth > Rays
Hunsicker > Astros

by baggs on Jul 20, 2010 10:53 PM CDT up reply actions

how about

oswalt to philly
werth to rays
and hellickson, brinac, and happ to astros
I would be happy with that trade!

Jon Barry, playing like he was 20 years ago when he was a real offensive threat!.... Bill Worrell

Too much

No way the Phillies and Rays offer that much for those two players.

How about simplifying it?

Oswalt to Philadelphia
Werth to Tampa Bay
Hellickson to Houston

Looks doable at first glance, but it probably depends how much TB values Hellickson, and how much Wade is trying to “hit a home run”.

i dunno

i can’t see wade trading oswalt for 1 player no matter how good he is. If hellickson doesn’t turn out to be good, then wade looses his job. he probably wants at least 3 players, so he can save himself if the best one he gets turns out decent, but another one turns out good…

Perhaps but it wouldn’t be Brignac and Happ or any players close to that good. You can always throw in grade C prospects to make a deal look better though.
