Astros Thursday Minor League Recap

I'll be taking a brief leave of absence for the next week or so.  And, when I mean leave of absence, I mean I'll be chiming in probably on a daily basis with comments but not have the time to write these recaps up for all of you.  Sorry, but I'll be be at a lake in Arkansas with my family skiing, knee-boarding, tubing, swimming, grilling, and camping until Thursday!  Then until Sunday I'll be getting things ready for my sister's wedding the following Saturday that is also in Arkansas.  I'll be back and on my regular schedule until the following Monday.  But, now the great news!  OremLK has graciously agreed to cover this section until I get back.  So, thanks to Orem and be looking forward to his write-ups that I'm sure will be better than mine.

But, on the minor league front, there were a few very solid starting pitching performances as well as a few young catchers tearing the cover off the ball.  And, J.D. Martinez got promoted apparently!  I'm not trying to take all of the credit but it does seem a bit odd that I write a brief section on my idea about how it would work in Corpus and then later that night, J.D. gets promoted.  I'm just giddy with excitement...and I'm not even going to get to write about his debut!  Orem, you're so lucky!

Wesley Wright had a pretty solid start which is nice for a change from him.  He struck out six and walked just one in his six and two-thirds innings.  He gave up four and two of them were homeruns which led to the two runs.  Gary Majewski picked up the victory and the blown save with two unearned runs on two hits and a walk in his two innings of work that included two strikeouts.  Wladimir Sutil went 1 for 5 with a double and two strikeouts.  Tommy Everidge went 1 for 4 with a homerun and a walk.  Drew Locke went 2 for 5 with a double and a strikeout.  Edwin Maysonet went 3 for 4 with a double and a strikeout.  Edwin Bellorin went 1 for 4 with a homerun.
