They definitely have some options to consider so I guess we’ll see.

That accounts for 3 of the 4 players to take off opening day roster. One to go.
Chris Johnson is the Bubble Baby. He is most predictable one to go back to Round Rock. With Berkman out , however, and maybe some lingering worries about Manzella, the Astros may send a pitcher down instead since pitching load is expected to be light the first few weeks of the season.

If the Astros had to, they could send Paulino back to AAA for a couple of weeks, since the No. 5 starter isn’t required until then. I doubt that they do that. I suppose we may see Paulino as a reliever for a little while. I’m not sure how the Astros will handle the Berkman DL, in terms of roster moves. If Evan is right (in the comments earlier on the Berkman injury update), then Blum will get all of the time at 1st base, and I can’t see any reason to keep CJ at the major league level (rather than giving him at bats in AAA). Adding Maysonet or Shelton would make more sense in that scenario. On the other hand, I suspect that the Astros are still debating what to do, and maybe we see something we don’t expect….
One additional thought on the DL decision opening a spot. It also could provide an open spot in case the Astros find someone they really like among the large number of waivers which will occur when the spring camps are over. A couple of reporters previously have indicated that Wade may pick up an outfielder if he sees one he likes better than the No. 5 outfielder candidates in camp.
Maybe this answers a question.
Third baseman Chris Johnson, who last year played in Class AAA Round Rock and has enjoyed a solid spring, has made the club, Mills said.

Bourgeois was reassigned, putting the roster at 25. But this is an interesting comment too:
The Astros’ roster is at 25 players with three days to go before Sunday’s deadline, although manager Brad Mills cautioned it is not set in stone.
