Vallejo and Lyon News
According to Alyson Footer of MLB.com, infielder Jose Vallejo will have surgery on Wednesday to repair severed tendons on two fingers on his right hand.
He could miss the entire season, according to Footer. Vallejo severed the tendons while preparing dinner at his home in the Dominican Republic during Christmas. The 22-year-old was acquired as the player to be named later in the Ivan Rodriguez trade last August. He batted .250/.293/.325 with two home runs and 38 RBI in the minors between Texas and Houston. If we were to go back to the TCB archives after that Pence injury, I think you would see some funny speculation about how that happened.

In early 2008, the photos of his girlfriend were all over the blogs. A google of her brought up some photos without much in the way of clothes, but I picked this less racey link. I am under the impression that they are no longer together.

Some poor judgement by Vallejo too.
Fallas’ blog says that he was roasting a large pig when he cut himself with a big knife. And this is the poor judgement part:
Making matters worse for the Astros is the fact, they say, they were not informed of the injury until more than a week after it happened.
Needless to say, Wade and Co. were not happy.
“We only find out from his agent (Steve Schneider) after (Vallejo) started having complications and the situation wasn’t resolving on its own,” Wade said. "To say the least, we were disappointed that the information was communicated so late because it turned out to be a very serious injury.
“We’re hoping that everything goes well (today) but we would have liked to have been able to get him in to be seen by our doctors immediately.”
He will be out all of 2010.
