A very nice, very well rounded piece from Gammons. Hopefully baseball writers across America are swayed.

Just read it!

Great review but I still think he was underrated defensively. Nobody remembers the ridiculous stretching digs out of the dirt? They did recognize his great instincts and ability to turn DPs and get the lead runner but I look at the guys we’ve had since and nobody comes close to reaching out and snag a ball while dam near doing the splits. Great guy, great leader, great player…I really hope he makes it first time around. Maybe that will get him thinking about baseball again? I think his presence in the clubhouse was a big deal last year. Not necessarily as a coach but just being there.

It was a great piece!

When does voting take place exactly?

I hope that Bags gets in on the first ballot. He really deserves it!

I think the voting is occurring right now. The announcements are in early January.

It’s hard to guess at the HOF voting. But I am thinking that Bagwell will get a lot of votes, but not the required 75% on his first try. If Roberto Alomar couldn’t get in on his first time last year, I doubt Bagwell will. Alomar probably will get into the HOF this year. Maybe we will see something similar for Bagwell. But, it certainly would be exciting if Bagwell gets in on the first ballot.

Great to see a writer Gammons get out and front for Bagwell! Great Article! Great Player! Let’s go #5.

Great article. Definite Hall of Famer IMO. Favorite Bagwell play was him stealing home on a Fox Saturday baseball game. Game winning hit versus Cards in playoffs was pretty cool too.

The home steal!!

It speaks volumes about his base running ability but it was one of my first baseball memories. It was around that time when I found my love for the game…
