I'm hoping that Matt Downs is given a chance to win the every day job and force Keppinger into a super sub role. It seems like a lot of people have forgotten about him, but I think there is a chance that he would not only bring better defense to second base but also a little more power without giving up much contact. However it looks like he would probably strike out about twice as much, but that seems like it would fit in perfectly with this lineup (note the sarcasm). I was hoping to see more of him last season. I certainly don't think he'll be an All-Star, but with the recent news of an impending sale, I am getting a little down on our chances of really upgrading any position. What do you all think? Am I the only one that likes Downs? Does anyone know of a middle infield prospect that has fallen out of favor with his current club? I'm thinking of the infielder equivalent to JR Towles. Maybe we can work out a disappointing prospect for disappointing prospect swap.
I can't believe I wrote a post about this. Man, what a slow offseason. Thank you all for helping me get through these hard times.
