I always liked Loretta. And, if I recall from JD’s commentary during Loretta’s Astros’ years, Loretta had serious interests in investment banking…he had a finance degree from a good business school (I think Northwestern). So, he may be well qualified from that standpoint.

I always wondered what would have happened if the Astros had re-signed Loretta after his first brief stint with the Astros (a mid-season acquisition in 2002 or 2003). I recall that Hunsicker wanted to sign him, but didn’t get the money from McLane to do so. At the time, Loretta wanted to return and he wouldn’t have cost more than 3 or 4 million. As it turned out, Loretta was just about to enter his peak years, when he was arguably the best second baseman in baseball for a couple of years.
