Ground out - strike out - strike out

Astros go weakly in the bottom of the first.

Nice little pitching matchup indeed.

Braves scored

walk
runner to second on ground out
Single to right that Pence clanked and runner on second scored

Next batter also hit to Pence in right who traps it and forces runner at second (but wild throw to second – luckily runner stayed at first and was easy out)

Berkman has lost it

He’s washed up – no home runs in two months! DFA the free loader!! You hear that, Berkman? You’re over the hill!

smashes on to 2nd, knocks down prado…made the play, lance out at 1st…

Lance lances the ball to second

Knocks the second baseman on his back, but he gets up to toss Berkman out

Overhaul the offense.

If we win, Wandy should get the win. Lame rules.

OMG!!!! ASTROS WIN.....

Bases loaded, Tejada batting in 9th with 1 out. He hits a bouncing ball up the middle…not hit hard with 50 bounces…and it gets through and 2 runs score.

by clack on Sep 9, 2009 9:26 PM CDT reply actions

Not really to Miggy's credit

Could just as easily have been a double play, a combination of luck + their infield playing a little in that allowed it to get through. I’ll take it though!

by OremLK on Sep 9, 2009 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah, some luck with that ball…Tejada was just interviewed and said he had luck. I doubt it would have been a GIDP if the 2d baseman had actually come up with it, because it was hit so slowly. The 2d baseman was 15 feet or so to the CF side of the bag when he stabbed at the ball. Even if he had been able to grab, he probably can’t get it to 2d base in time…probably would have held the lead run though.

ASTROS WIN 2-1

Matsui singled
Berkman doubled

Miggy on MLB network now

Who knows what that t-shirt is about? Oh, and good job with the interview even though I understood about a third of it.

by ol Pete on Sep 9, 2009 9:49 PM CDT reply actions

was he wearing a T-shirt? or were they talking about the “Really?” T-shirt?

I read it as “Save the Sound..Release the Noise” with a guitar backdrop. My eyes and monitor aren’t the best in the world, and I could be wrong.
